How I Met Richard Branson
During October 2011 Sir Richard Branson came to Australia during the 21st century financial education summit, where he shared his amazing story and business success and I've had the privilege of being in the premium audience sitting and had the opportunity to meet Richard Branson face to face.
Amongst the many nuggets that I've learnt from his books and also during the financial education summit, one of the most important lessons is that true wealth has to be created from the inside out and in the case of Richard Branson, he didn't start off wanting to become an entrepreneur. He actually wanted to make a difference to the world and that's what his passion was and that's also one of his business success secrets.
Richard Branson's Achievements
Sir Richard Branson is an English businessman, investor and philanthropist. He founded the Virgin Group, which controls more than 400 companies. At the age of sixteen his first business venture was a magazine called Student. In 1970, he set up a mail-order record business. In 1972, he opened a chain of record stores, Virgin Records. Branson's Virgin brand grew rapidly during the 1980s, as he set up Virgin Atlantic airline and expanded the Virgin Records music label.
In March 2000, Branson was knighted at Buckingham Palace for "services to entrepreneurship". For his work in retail, music and transport (with interests in land, air, sea and space travel), his taste for adventure, and for his humanitarian work, he became a prominent figure. In 2002 he was named in the BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons. In March 2017, Forbes listed Branson's estimated net worth at $5 billion.
